It was a rainy start, but that didn't dampen farmers' enthusiasm for the 25th annual Canada's Outdoor Farm Show located on the outskirts of Woodstock, Ontario.

Held the second week of September, the event is organized by Glacier FarmMedia and attracts 40,000 visitors – with spin-off benefits worth millions to the surrounding communities by way of hotel stays, restaurant purchases and support services.

The 25th edition featured 750 exhibitors and, in keeping with its innovation-in-action mandate, some new technology geared towards improving the quality of visitor experiences. For the first time, visitors could refer to a mobile guide downloaded from the show's website to help navigate the site.

Also new this year was the Farmers' Edge Knowledge Tent presented by Farmtario and Country Guide. Over the three days, the tent offered a range of informative sessions on topics ranging from strip-tillage to managing farm succession planning to an interactive session on how farmers can remain “fit to farm.”

The event wouldn't have been possible without the ongoing support of local community service organizations, which were out in full force helping with traffic control and food services.
