Glacier FarmMedia (GFM) is Canada's largest farm publisher and operator of Canada's foremost farm shows: Ag in Motion (Langham, SK) and Canada's Outdoor Farm Show (Woodstock, ON), the Farm Forum Event (Saskatoon, SK) and Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference, along with developing and supporting other company-lead and partner-lead events and conferences. Ag in Motion (AIM) connects farmers with agricultural companies to see and experience the latest innovation and technology in agriculture. Each year Ag in Motion attracts over 30,000 attendees and 750 agricultural exhibitors, showcasing products and services through interactive displays and live demonstrations of machinery, livestock, crops, niche markets, energy and more. The show has grown each year, and now includes virtual events.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Ag in Motion and working closely with the Discovery Farm Langham team, this position will lead exhibitor space sales and demonstration planning and execution. This role entails strategic, sales, customer service and on-site execution.  This is a dynamic position that involves working with hundreds of agricultural companies, from sales, to customer service to in the field.  Exceptional client service and strategic thinking are key components of the role, along with an understanding of field equipment and agronomic practices.

Key Responsibilities

Exhibitor Sales

  • Lead the exhibitor sales process for AIM. Success in this area is achieving growth and hitting sales targets
  • Develop and manage strong and long-lasting relationships with customers by partnering with them and understanding their needs
  • Work closely with the sponsorship manager to offer and deliver sponsorships opportunities to customers
  • Support Director and EVPs in setting objectives and monitoring the performance of sales initiatives
  • Present sales, revenue, expense reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status, working close with the Marketing team
  • Travel and networking for industry events
  • Support other GFM events or publications achieve sales success, as requested

Business Development

  • Develop new opportunities with exhibitors and sponsors at AIM
  • Explore and develop new opportunities for AIM
  • Explore and develop new opportunities for Discovery Farm Langham (example: summer events)

Exhibitor Services

  • Lead customer service and support for confirmed exhibitors
  • Lead exhibitor services strategy, working closely with the marketing and sponsorship teams
  • Lead exhibitor services execution, with support from Special Projects
  • Project manage Map Your Show
  • Follow up with customers to ensure timely payment for booth space

Field Demonstrations

  • Coordinate the demonstration program, including:
    • Determining demonstration topics
    • Managing participants
    • Coordinating field work
    • Managing show time execution
    • Gathering information for communications

Qualifications Requirements

  • Exceptional client service and relationship management (both internal and external)
  • Ability to take a strategic idea and work it down to the details for execution
  • Demonstrated track record in setting and meeting sales targets
  • Highly motivated and driven towards team success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dialed into the agriculture landscape
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in agriculture (or a relevant diploma/degree, plus farm experience)
  • Able/willing to travel
