Looking for your opportunity in the West to take your career to the next level?

Alaska Highway News, an award-winning publication, is seeking an experienced and talented managing editor to lead our two newsrooms in Northern British Columbia. As editor, you'll be the driving force behind producing an engaging digital daily and weekly print newspaper that delves into the stories that matter most to our readers.

As our managing editor, you'll have the opportunity to lead our coverage of these events, making a real impact in our communities, which also include Fort Nelson, Tumbler Ridge, Hudson’s Hope, Chetwynd, Taylor, and surrounding rural areas. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day management and production of our news website, weekly newspaper, and specialty trade publications, leading morning story meetings with reporters, and managing daily deadlines.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • strong people management and conflict resolution skills
  • excellent planning and organizing abilities
  • superb communication skills
  • a strong grasp of media libel law and CP style
  • experience with InDesign and Photoshop

At Alaska Highway News, we're passionate about delivering accurate and engaging news to our readers. As part of Glacier Media, a publisher of daily and weekly newspapers, trade magazines, and business information products throughout Western Canada, we're committed to delivering the highest-quality content possible.

If you're ready to take the next step in your editorial career and make a real impact in our communities, we'd love to hear from you. To apply, please send your cover letter, resume, and relevant samples of your work to William Julian, regional manager, at wj[at]ahnfsj[dot]ca.
