Job Purpose:
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the (full-time, fixed-term position) HR Generalist is responsible for promoting HR practices and objectives supporting company culture initiatives with a key role in end-to-end recruitment. The HR Generalist assists in day-to-day operations including on/offboarding, employee retention/recognition strategies, advising on employment/union standards, ad-hoc projects, documentation/reporting, and providing HR guidance to ensure profitable business operations. This is a remote term position beginning in January 2023 until September 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead recruitment process for all levels of staff including executive management recruiting
- Job requisition
- Job advertising
- Sorting and pre-screening resumes
- Coordinating next level interviews
- Completing reference checks
- Creating job offers
- Creating flow charts for custom recruiting needs (regular office hires/event staff hires)
- Work with third party recruiting agencies
- HR Onboarding (Coordinate with IT for hardware/software set up, adding employees on to all staff chat lists)
- Facilitate and update orientation
- HR Offboarding (Coordinate with IT for hardware/software take down, coordinate with management for replacement)
- Assist in the development of job descriptions (job designing) brainstorming with leaders to create appropriate job descriptions with competitive salary bands
- Execution and development of strategic HR projects (president’s club)
- Own President’ Club project, including monthly communication, facilitation in employee engagement projects
- Lead and facilitate company culture & engagement initiatives, activities and communication
- Developing outreach programs for recruitment (third party agencies, post-secondary institutes)
- Create and keep record of job descriptions for all staff
- HR Policy documentation, implementation, and enforcement
- Assist in the organization of employee files
- Acting as a resource for HR documentation/procedures to ensure efficient operation of all HR administrative processes
- Coordinating student co-op programs (recruitment, career fairs, student/management relations, evaluation forms)
- Owning student subsidy application process, coordination of performance management between students, leaders, and post-secondary institutes
- Providing consultation to leaders on employee issues, hiring strategies, advising on issues related to a unionized environment
- Research and reporting on HR related projects (recruitment agencies, educational institutes, subsidies/programs, HR practices)
- Create, facilitate, and coordinate training/professional development programs including access to courses and lunch & learns
- Create, facilitate, and coordinate employee satisfaction surveys
- Providing guidance and administration of WCB/health and safety reporting
- Occasionally attending conferences or events to promote HR initiatives
- Other duties, as required

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years relevant experience in an HR Generalist Role with experience in full-cycle recruitment
- Ability to handle large volumes of recruitment in a short time frame
- Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-tasking and shift priorities as needed Driven, accountable, self-started with the demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and takes initiative to achieve results
- Hands-on, willing attitude, dedicated, energetic, strong organization and Project Management skills
- Curiosity with a passion for learning, openness to ask questions seeking to understand and share ideas
- Well-developed communication and presentation skills
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail
- Flexible and able to handle changing demands
- Experience with planning, coordinating, and executing meetings
Nice-to-haves:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is an asset
- Enjoy event planning for internal and external events
- Experience with Asana
