Business in Vancouver Re-launched with a Redesigned Newspaper and Website
Vancouver, British Columbia – May15th, 2012 – Over the past nine months, the 23-year-old award-winning business news publication has been undergoing a complete reinvention of it’s weekly newspaper and website.
The result is a news source that’s relevant, contemporary, engaging and contextual in its coverage of key business sectors and the trends that affect Vancouver-based companies.
“We knew a crucial first step would be to understand clearly what our readers like, dislike and want. So we carried out in-depth interviews with many members of Vancouver’s business community in order to provide us with a baseline about what BIV should be in 2012” says Paul Harris, Publisher of Business in Vancouver.
“We’re proud to say that we’re now producing more unique local business news each week than any other publication in Metro Vancouver. And our journalists have found new ways to present our content – using first-person narratives, graphic spreads and advice panels to help our readers use BIV as a more effective business tool.”
The new BIV newspaper will feature more local business news, profiles, an enhanced data package and more advice from local business experts.
In addition, www.biv.com has been given a complete overhaul, dramatically improving its navigation and demolishing the “fixed paywall” that prevented any access to non-subscribers, adopting instead the metered approach favoured by publications such as The New York Times.
“This allows subscribers to login and access all our content as usual, while also allowing non-subscribers to access a limited number of content items per month free of charge” states Harris. “We believe this new approach will help build BIV’s online presence and significantly improve the user experience.”
Business in Vancouver is an award-winning weekly newspaper serving Greater Vancouver since 1989. Targeted at business decision-makers, it provides local business news and information to the Lower Mainland's business leaders every week.
