Business in Vancouver has an immediate opening for an Editorial Researcher to join its newsroom to help produce its weekly lists of largest companies across a variety of sectors and highest-paid executives. These lists are an essential and unique ingredient in BIV's editorial content and require a diligent, thoroughly organized Researcher with intermediate software skills and an eagerness to gather data.
Duties for this role include taking the lead in creating and updating surveys and company entries for each list, and working with an annual schedule of publishing them. In some cases it involves using public online sources as a resource, but in many cases it requires the researcher to make contact with companies and individuals to gather data about them. The researcher also posts the lists online.
The successful candidate needs to be proficient in Excel and Adobe Acrobat. An ideal candidate has experience in using Datajoe software, although training is available. Mathematical skills are required, as is some HTML knowledge.
Candidates are invited to send their cover letter and resume to:
Kirk LaPointe, Editor-in-Chief, Business in Vancouver: klapointe[at]biv[dot]com.
Closing date for submissions: July 12, 2019.
