St. Albert Gazette
Founded in 1961, in the centennial year of Alberta’s oldest permanent settlement, The Gazette has chronicled the lives of residents and area events for 50 years. Today’s twice-weekly, full-colour tabloid, focuses on providing our readers award-winning journalism in every issue. Our team has collected more than 200 industry honours in the past 20 years. The Canadian Community Newspapers' Association has named us the best newspaper in the country in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2008 and 2009. The Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association has recognized us as Alberta’s Best Community Newspaper 2000 – 2005, 2007, 2008, and again in 2009. The Gazette enjoys an extremely strong readership with 89% of St. Albert adults reading us almost every issue (Combase National Readership Study 2009).
St. Albert is one of Alberta’s fastest growing communities. It has the highest education levels and the second-highest median household income ($104,600 in 2008) in the province. Located in the beautiful Sturgeon River valley just outside Edmonton’s northern boundary, the city is now exceeds 60,000 residents. To the north another 22,000 residents live in the towns, villages, acreages and farms of Sturgeon County.
